The opportunity
As the Senior Operator, you’ll coordinate and oversee daily operations across our water systems — ensuring customers receive safe, reliable, and uninterrupted water services.
You’ll lead site activities, mentor operators, manage contractors, and drive continuous improvement across the network. This is a hands-on leadership role where your operational knowledge and problem-solving skills will make a direct impact on community outcomes and environmental performance.
Responsibilities
• Plan, schedule and coordinate daily operational activities and resources across the water network.
• Monitor system performance using SCADA, IoT and field data to identify and resolve faults or performance issues.
• Lead and mentor operators and contractors, ensuring safety and compliance across all works.
• Deliver operational programs including chemical deliveries, maintenance coordination, asset outages and emergency response.
• Maintain compliance with licence, water quality, and safety standards (HSEQ, ISO, HACCP).
• Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Support customer and stakeholder engagement, ensuring effective communication on operational activities.
Skills & Experience
• Certificate III in Water Operations (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience operating and maintaining water, wastewater, or recycled water infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of operational systems (SCADA, IMS, HACCP, water quality management).
• Demonstrated leadership skills – mentoring team members and coordinating site activities.
• Sound safety knowledge, situational awareness, and ability to manage operational risks.
• Digital literacy and ability to interpret performance data and trends.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to participate in after-hours and on-call rosters.
