The opportunity

The Senior Cloud & Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining GWW’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure across primarily Windows environments, including IT, OT, and SCADA systems. Reporting to the Team Leader, Server & Cloud Platforms, the role ensures the security, availability, and reliability of GWW’s technology services, collaborating with internal stakeholders, partners, and vendors. The position also provides guidance and mentorship to junior team members while contributing to the ongoing optimisation of GWW’s core infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimise GWW’s server, storage, and computing resources across all sites, ensuring performance, availability, and security through proactive maintenance and patching.
  • Administer and secure enterprise identity and access management systems (e.g. Active Directory), including privileged access controls and system authorisation tools.
  • Provide advanced technical support and escalation for complex infrastructure and application issues, collaborating with vendors and third-party providers to resolve problems and optimise outcomes.
  • Maintain system documentation, perform capacity planning and disaster recovery activities, and continuously improve operational processes and end-user experiences.
  • Manage the health, performance, and security of GWW’s cloud environments, including Azure and Microsoft 365, ensuring proper access controls and system integrity.
  • Optimise cloud resources and costs through performance monitoring, licence management, and automation using Microsoft frameworks and scripting tools.
  • Maintain and support cloud applications, documentation, and operational processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience managing Azure, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, VMware, and Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
  • Advanced skills in troubleshooting, incident management, and enterprise-level Microsoft services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and server patching.
  • Proficient in automation and configuration management using PowerShell and Microsoft frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of networking, web application, redundancy, and cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Knowledge of ITIL and continuous improvement methodologies, with experience applying BPMN 2.0 standards.
  • Effective collaborator and communicator, skilled in working with external partners and developing efficient, cost-effective technology solutions.
