The opportunity

We are looking for an engaging Manager, HSEQ Systems and Assurance to manage a small team and drive continuous improvement across our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems. Reporting to the Head of HSEQ, you will lead system optimisation, ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements, and deliver data-driven insights on performance and risk. You will oversee assurance programs, partner with senior leaders on risk and compliance frameworks, and manage key regulator relationships while fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and safety. This role plays a critical part in protecting our people, environment, and cultural heritage, and enhancing organisational performance.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Leading the HSEQ Systems and Assurance team, to cultivate constructive and collaborative partnerships, as a trusted adviser across the business.
  • Managing and improving the HSEQ management system, activating compliance to certification and compliance obligations.
  • Enabling the intuitive use of the HSEQ management system through user centred design of processes and information systems, enabling sustained efficiency and effectiveness improvement.
  • Developing, maintaining, and continually evolving data and information analytics to derive insights to performance and risk opportunities, and fulfil statutory reporting obligations.
  • Participating in internal and external audits as required and ensuring post audit continuous improvement initiatives are shared and implemented across the business.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification or professional certification (e.g. AIHS, EIANZ) in a HSEQ discipline or related field.
  • Experience in delivering HSEQ services in a government or highly regulated sector within a utility/ heavy construction environment highly desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management system standards and implementation into a certified management system.
  • Experience in the application of HSEQ, policy compliance and current legislation and practices.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, ability to engage and communicate across a diverse range of stakeholders.
