The opportunity 

This is a great opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role as the Automation Team Leader at GWW. You’ll lead a team of developers and technical specialist to drive automation and digitisation initiatives that support key financial, customer, employee, and environmental outcomes. With a strong platform already in place, your focus will be on maximising its value, enhancing operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative team environment. You’ll be responsible for shaping automation strategy, setting clear goals, and ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with business priorities.

 

This role requires a blend of technical expertise in automation technologies and strong leadership skills to guide teams and projects successfully.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the automation roadmap in alignment with business objectives
  • Lead the development of automation solutions using tools such as UiPath, Appian, Power Automate, or custom scripts
  • Lead the design and delivery of automation solutions, supporting product roadmaps, driving adoption, and ensuring measurable outcomes that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the day-to-day performance, health, and scalability of the automation platform, ensuring reliability, availability, and continuous improvement through automation and best practices.
  • Ensure robust architecture, scalability, and security of automation systems
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices in development
  • Identify opportunities for automation across departments and processes
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Track KPIs and report progress to senior leadership
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, acting as the link between IT and the wider organisation to align technology solutions with business needs and priorities
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners to support platform delivery, manage licensing and services, and track platform spend against budget

 

Skills & Experience

  • Coordinate with vendors and partners to support platform delivery, manage licensing and services, and track platform spend against budget
  • 7+ years of experience in automation development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • 7+ years of experience with RPA platforms, scripting languages (Python, JavaScript), and workflow orchestration tools. 
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, APIs, and cloud platforms.
  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade automation solutions.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Solid technical experience in Coding skills (Appian, UiPath, other languages, e.g. PowerShell), CI/CD pipeline build and automation
  • 7+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
  • 7+ years of experience with AI/ML integration in automation workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in running a technology team in a corporate environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable insights.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
