The opportunity
Due to internal progression, we now have this role available.
The Water Treatment Specialist is a senior member of the Water Treatment Planning Team. Day to day you will be providing direction, leading the development of GWW’s strategic approach to managing drinking water treatment plants, driving optimisation, innovation, and efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Master Plans for current and future water treatment plants, ensuring Master Plan outcomes align with water supply system strategies and regional servicing plans.
- Ensure that current and emerging water treatment and water quality risks are managed through engagement with internal and external stakeholders and identify appropriate risk control measures, initiating projects to implement mitigations.
- Provide ongoing planning guidance and oversight into projects through all phases of GWW Portfolio Project Management Framework.
- Proactively identify innovative technologies and processes to improve treatment plant and water supply system performance supporting key stakeholders.
- Drive organisational capability as a subject matter expert - mentor, coach and build the long-term capability across teams.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in drinking water treatment plant planning/ operations with a focus on long-term planning and plant design/projects/upgrades.
- Detailed knowledge of water supply, water treatment infrastructure and systems and associated risk management systems.
- Detailed knowledge of drinking water quality management in water distribution and reticulation networks and an understanding of integrated water management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaborative relationships across all levels.
- A demonstrated ability to work with limited direction, adept in navigating complexity and display a self-managed proactive approach to managing competing demands.
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field.
