The opportunity
As the Senior Team Leader, Catchments & Water Treatment, you’ll lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of bulk water systems, including raw water transfers, catchments, dams and treatment plants.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, protecting public health, and delivering high-quality water services to the community. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team while working closely with key stakeholders including Melbourne Water and Southern Rural Water.
With a strong focus on risk management, continuous improvement and operational excellence, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding water quality and supporting sustainable water management outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operation of catchments, dams and water treatment plants to ensure safe, reliable supply
- Ensure compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act, DWRMP, HACCP and regulatory standards
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of operators, engineers and technical specialists
- Manage operational and capital programs, including budgets, maintenance and asset performance
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, responding to incidents and system issues
- Build strong partnerships with internal teams, regulators and external stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in water or wastewater treatment operations and leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of Safe Drinking Water Act, regulatory compliance, HACCP systems and risk management frameworks
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance and build capability
- Experience managing budgets, asset management systems and operational planning
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering (Highly desirable)
- Hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence (required)
