The opportunity
This role plays a key part in protecting and enhancing biodiversity across Greater Western Water’s landholdings and service area.
As the Senior Field Officer – Land Stewardship, you’ll provide expert technical advice and lead the delivery of biodiversity conservation programs that support our Caring for Country strategy and meet state and federal environmental obligations.
You’ll work across planning, operations and community, supporting biodiversity management plans, conservation projects and threatened species actions, while ensuring compliance with legislation including the EPBC Act. This is a hands-on, field-based role with strong influence across the business and external partners.
Responsibilities
• Provide expert technical advice on biodiversity, threatened species and environmental matters
• Lead the development and delivery of biodiversity management plans and conservation projects
• Coordinate contractors and consultants delivering restoration, weed control and revegetation works
• Undertake environmental surveys, GIS mapping, monitoring and reporting of biodiversity outcomes
• Ensure compliance with state and federal legislation, including EPBC and biodiversity offsets
• Build strong partnerships with Traditional Owners, community groups and key stakeholders
Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience delivering biodiversity conservation or land stewardship programs
• Strong technical knowledge of flora, fauna, threatened species and ecological restoration
• Experience developing and implementing biodiversity or conservation management plans
• Capability in environmental monitoring, data analysis and GIS systems
• Proven stakeholder engagement and contractor management experience
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and advise
• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology or similar (highly desirable)
• Valid Driver’s Licence (essential)
