The opportunity
The Senior Engineer, Infrastructure Quality is responsible for providing design assurance and engineering advice within a multi-disciplinary, engineering-based team that underpins the delivery of water, alternative water, and sewerage infrastructure services. The role will lead and support design reviews and audits, offer specialist technical advice, and contribute to the ongoing development and application of infrastructure standards. In this position, you will ensure capital delivery projects are designed and constructed to meet quality expectations while also considering environmental, social, and financial impacts to maintain the quality, safety and reliability of essential services.
We are seeking a candidate who is a civil or mechanical engineer with extensive water infrastructure design experience holding Victorian Professional Engineering Registration or who is eligible to apply for registration.
Responsibilities
- Lead design assurance activities for capital delivery projects, including design reviews, audits, workshops, and development of quality assurance plans.
- Provide engineering and technical advice throughout design development and into construction to ensure quality, safe and reliable outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive best-practice planning, design, and project delivery.
- Develop and maintain design and construction standards and specifications in collaboration with internal teams, water agencies, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Provide engineering advice across the asset lifecycle, including assessing new products, identifying design solutions, investigating asset defects and failures, and resolving performance issues through root cause analysis.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience delivering engineering design solutions for water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure.
- Proven capability in designing pump stations, treatment plant assets, storage tanks, and both gravity and pressure pipeline systems.
- Strong hydraulic design expertise across pumped and gravity networks, including water and sewage pipelines and treatment facilities.
- Tertiary Qualification in Engineering (Civil/ Mechanical) Eligible for Engineering Chartership and Professional Engineering Registration with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) of Victoria
