The opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Senior Appian Developer to join Greater Western Water's Automation team.

 

Reporting to the Team Leader, Automation, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, supporting, and continuously improving enterprise applications using the Appian platform. Working closely with Business Analysts, Architects, Product Owners, and business stakeholders, you'll deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions that streamline processes, improve customer outcomes, and support GWW's strategic objectives.

 

You'll contribute technical expertise across the full software development lifecycle while promoting Appian best practices, supporting platform reliability, and driving continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise Appian applications.
  • Build scalable and secure solutions aligned with business requirements and architectural standards.
  • Develop integrations with enterprise systems using APIs, web services, and connected systems.
  • Support production and non-production environments through troubleshooting, incident resolution, and performance optimisation.
  • Participate in solution design, code reviews, release activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Share knowledge, mentor team members, and promote development best practices across the team.

 

Skills & Experience

Note: This role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call roster, operating on two weeks on, two weeks off rotation.

 

  • 5+ years' experience developing enterprise applications using Appian.
  • Strong experience with Appian Process Models, SAIL Interfaces, Record Types, Reports, Sites, Expression Rules, and Decision Rules.
  • Experience developing integrations using REST APIs, Connected Systems, Web APIs, JSON, XML, and OAuth.
  • Strong SQL Server and relational database design experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

Desirable

  • Appian certifications.
  • Experience with UiPath, Power Platform, or other low-code platforms.
  • Experience working within utilities, government, or other regulated industries.
  • Agile or Scrum certification.
