The opportunity
The Senior Advisor, Communications offers expert communication support for GWW business functions by leading the creation and execution of communication plans and materials. This role fosters collaboration between Communications and business units, serving as a strategic partner employing in-depth business activities knowledge to proactively manage risks and opportunities. The advisor aims to enhance communication alignment with business priorities, ultimately driving objectives and delivering positive business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication plans that align with business priorities, advocate for optimal customer outcomes, and integrate organisational strategies with broader government messages.
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to provide strategic advice and ensure alignment in communication and engagement activities across various teams.
- Collaborate with leaders in partner functions to enhance external communication effectiveness, measure outcomes through feedback and coaching, ensure alignment with GWW strategy and community interests and increase knowledge sharing with Communication colleagues for improved responsiveness.
- Oversee the development and distribution of effective communication materials for various audiences, ensuring they meet business needs and brand standards while supporting campaigns and initiatives.
- Monitor and assess communication plans and activities using key metrics to report outcomes, lessons learned, and areas for future improvement.
- Promote effective teamwork and information sharing through collaboration tools, participate in emergency communications and on-call duties, manage project budgets, and ensure compliance with organisational policies.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a communications advisory role and building influential relationships across all organisational levels.
- Expertise in translating complex issues into clear and impactful messaging.
- Ability to provide independent advice, collaborate effectively within teams, and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Skilled in developing, implementing, and evaluating creative communication plans for effective outcomes.
- Proficient in identifying and mitigating reputational risks while producing well-crafted communications for diverse audiences.
- Strong multitasking abilities with a focus on prioritising competing needs, meeting deadlines, and delivering on commitments.
