The opportunity

The Organisational Development (OD) Specialist – NextGen Transformation plays a critical role in translating strategic program priorities into actionable, embedded solutions that enhance capability, performance, and culture across the asset delivery lifecycle. Working within the NextGen Transformation team this role is responsible for shaping and executing OD initiatives that align with business objectives while ensuring sustainable change. Working closely with the NextGen Managers and the Head of Organisation Development and People Experience, the OD Specialist will mobilise key resources as required (e.g., Change Practitioners, external providers, Internal OD team, business stakeholders) to support delivery and will work in an integrated way with the business to drive adoption, alignment, and impact.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with NextGen Leads to shape and deliver OD plans and initiatives aligned to transformation goals, integrating business, people, and capability priorities.
  • Connected to GWWs broader OD program of work, ensure the practical roll out of right sized interventions re: leadership, capability, culture, and performance that evolve with the organisation’s needs.
  • Drive adoption of transformation initiatives by engaging stakeholders, addressing resistance, and embedding sustainable change.
  • Connect OD efforts across asset delivery lifecycle teams to broader enterprise strategy, ensuring cohesion across systems and initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships to embed OD principles into leadership and business decisions through coaching, facilitation, and influence.
  • Work closely with teams to diagnose challenges and design hands-on, practical OD solutions that respond to real business needs.
  • Identify when and where specialist resources are needed, ensuring their contributions align with transformation outcomes.
  • Focus on long-term results by tracking adoption, sustainability, and performance improvements across OD initiatives.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Connects strategy to practical OD solutions, aligning capability and change initiatives to broader transformation goals.
  • Builds trust with senior leaders and teams, influences key decisions, and fosters strong cross-functional alignment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, uses data and insights to design solutions that are relevant and easy to embed.
  • Focused on outcomes, not just delivery. Ensures OD initiatives are adopted and lead to real behavioural change.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments, adapts to shifting priorities and stays solutions-focused throughout transformation.
  • Utility experience, including the water sector or infrastructure organisations (highly desirable).
  • Degree in relevant discipline (Organisational Development, Business, Human Resources, etc.) or equivalent experience.
