The opportunity            

This new role within the Delivery Improvement Team will ensure operational Emergency Management (EM) plans and procedures are up to date, meet regulatory requirements, align with the corporate framework, and are understood and applied by relevant staff. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining operational capabilities to support the needs outlined in the EM framework & emergency response plans.

 

The Operational Emergency Management Coordinator (OEMC) will leverage their expertise to provide specialist EM advice to the Incident Management Team during incidents. Additional responsibilities will also include coordinating operational after-hours staffing arrangements, monitoring operational resilience and driving improvements and contribute to the effective operational emergency outcomes for O&DS (Operations & Delivery Solutions).

 

Duties

  • Acts as a centre of expertise for EM for O&DS staff
  • Provides leadership across O&DS teams to ensure emergency management resources, capability and preparedness is satisfactory
  • Remains informed and collaborates with the Compliance, EM and Systems Corporate Team with regard to EM regulatory changes and providing iterative feedback into the EM framework
  • Oversight of operational EM and continuity plans and procedures (such as contingency plans), ensuring they are easily digestible, complete, meet regulatory requirements and are kept up to date in line with corporate EM requirements
  • Undertake and enhance the delivery of programs and projects from the EM working group meetings, to build the resilience of the O&DS incident roster to react to emergencies
  • Works with the O&DS leadership team to define the depth and capability required to fulfill and provide sufficient resilience for operational EM roles
  • Maintain strategically important networks and relationships across the water industry, to support best practice operational EM
  • Develops and manages the O&DS Risk and Resilience Plan and coordinates the implementation of initiatives to improve resilience
  • Develops and maintains operational incident reporting and trend analysis

 

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience with the application of Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS).
  • Sound understanding of the Victorian Emergency Management legislation, frameworks, and operating plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence and negotiate for successful outcomes at all levels of the organisation and with regulators and partner organisations.
  • Proven experience in; developing pragmatic procedures and plans, delivering change & in driving continuous improvement.
