The opportunity

Due to an internal movement, this 6-month opportunity is now available!

 

This role will see you provide exceptional leadership to achieve and improve strategic financial outcomes for Greater Western Water (GWW).

 

Day-to-day you will apply a commercial lens, lead the Finance Business Partnering, and Financial Planning and Analysis teams to uplift and strengthen our commercial approach, capability and maturity across the section and the enterprise to align the business towards a TOTEX view of enterprise expenditure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional commercially focused leadership in the Finance Business Partnering and Financial Planning and Analysis teams ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and driving value through strategic financial insights.
  • Deliver a Total Expenditure view of Investment spend to fully understand the impact to the Enterprise of the decision.
  • Build Financial Capability and acumen championing initiatives that uplift financial literacy and acumen across the business, embedding a mindset of financial sustainability and accountability in decision-making at all levels.
  • Identify and manage risks and benefits associated with implementing business strategies and plans, including understanding the financial implications.
  • Proactively collaborate across the business to support and influence commercial decisions with consideration of strategic, fiscal and compliance impacts.
  • Design and continuously improve a centralised planning framework—covering budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning—owned by FP&A, to drive consistency, transparency, and agility in financial operations.
  • Working with the CFO, develop a framework for the financial governance of Business cases, across Finance and other functions.

 

 

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive Financial Management experience within a complex corporate environment or commercial aspects of running a government business enterprise or private sector utility with understanding of the regulatory and authorising environment implications.
  • Experience in delivering long lead financial plans and strategic plans.
  • Experience with corporate/ finance modelling, board papers, pricing submission and developing frameworks.
  • People management experience within managing financial business partnering teams.
  • Extensive experience in developing commercial capability moving towards a TOTEX view of expenditure and providing analysis and insights to business partners, collaborating to enable business outcomes.
  • Outstanding communication expertise and exceptional influencing and leadership skills to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Tertiary qualification and CPA/CA are essential.
