The opportunity
Exciting opportunity for a skilled finance leader to shape the future of the asset and project accounting team.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, drive the capability uplift, excellence, and high performance of the Team. You’ll partner with the business to provide financial governance over TOTEX throughout the lifecycle of projects and programs of works.
You will co-develop and implement
- The business case financial review process
- The enterprise-wide TOTEX insights and reporting across projects and programs
Responsibilities
Asset Accounting
- Lead all aspects of asset accounting, including capitalisation, depreciation, asset registers, revaluations and disposals.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with the business functions to ensure accurate asset treatment and lifecycle accounting.
Project Accounting Governance
- Establish and maintain governance, frameworks and standards for project accounting across the organisation.
- Provide oversight, advice and assurance on project financial management, capitalisation and cost treatment.
- Support consistent application of project accounting practices across infrastructure and non-infrastructure programs.
Technology Project Accounting
- Deliver detailed project accounting for Technology projects, including capital vs opex assessment, SaaS treatment, and benefits tracking.
- Partner closely with Technology and Digital teams to support delivery and financial transparency of IT initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Insights
- Provide accurate reporting on capital expenditure, asset movements and project financial performance.
- Support month-end, year-end and audit processes relating to assets and projects.
- Deliver insights to senior leaders to support investment and delivery decisions.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of asset and project accounting professionals.
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes and controls.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in asset accounting and project accounting within an asset-intensive environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards relating to PPE and Software (including IT/SaaS treatment)
- Proven leadership ability with experience driving team performance and organisational change.
- Skilled in data analysis, process improvement, and delivering operational efficiencies.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and commercial frameworks in government or utility sectors.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- High integrity, results focus, and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- CPA/CA Membership – essential.
