The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Manager – Asset Accounting to lead the Asset Accounting team and strengthen financial governance across the organisation’s investment and asset lifecycle.
This role will play a key part in modernising asset accounting practices, embedding consistent capitalisation and labour allocation approaches, and improving financial processes that support the organisation’s growing infrastructure and technology investment program.
You will partner closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong governance, and sound financial decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing Asset Accounting team.
- Provide financial governance over total investment spend (TOTEX) across the asset lifecycle.
- Embed consistent application of capitalisation practices across the organisation.
- Lead the development and review of labour rate and allocation methodologies.
- Strengthen Work in Progress (WIP) and asset capitalisation processes.
- Maintain integrity of the fixed asset register and financial reporting.
- Provide practical accounting advice to business stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement and modernisation of asset accounting processes and systems.
- Support financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and audit requirements.
Skills & Experience
- CPA/CA Membership – essential.
- Experience in asset accounting within a complex organisation
- Strong knowledge of capitalisation and financial accounting standards
- Proven leadership ability with experience driving team performance, organisational change, and capability uplift.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Proven experience to improve processes and strengthen financial governance.
- Experience working in utilities, infrastructure or public sector environment will be highly regarded.
