The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled finance leader to shape the future of asset accounting within a dynamic organisation. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Asset Accounting will drive capability uplift, excellence, and high performance while ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards. You’ll partner with finance and business stakeholders to strengthen governance over total investment spend (TOTEX), co-develop robust financial review processes, and enhance enterprise-wide reporting and insights. This role offers the chance to combine leadership, technical expertise, and strategic influence to deliver meaningful financial outcomes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to drive commercial thinking, high performance, and capability development across the Asset Accounting team.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion.
  • Manage an annual investment portfolio of ~$300M, challenging practices and introducing innovative solutions.
  • Partner with finance and business stakeholders to embed a total investment approach and strengthen financial governance.
  • Enhance business case review processes, tools, and systems for accurate oversight, financial analysis, asset capitalisation, and timely reporting.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, influence stakeholders, manage risks, and align investment outcomes with strategic goals.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable plans, inspire innovation and sustainable outcomes, and champion GWW’s culture while supporting employee growth and development.

 

 

Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in CAPEX/OPEX solutions and financial accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and asset accounting in complex environments.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience driving team performance and organisational change.
  • Skilled in data analysis, process improvement, and delivering operational efficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and commercial frameworks in government or utility sectors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • High integrity, results focus, and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
