The opportunity

In the brand-new role as the Lead, Data & AI Governance working within the Data and Security team, you will be leading the development and implementation of our inaugural enterprise-wide data and AI governance framework!

Day to day you will work across the organisation to connect with key stakeholders, create a practical roadmap, develop tools and processes to mature the Data & AI governance practices.  As the expert, you will liaise with external audits and conduct reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing development of GWWs inaugural data and AI governance framework, incorporating the ethical, legal and effective use of data and AI.
  • Develop and implement a pragmatic roadmap to improve data and AI governance maturity, in alignment with organisational governance and objectives, compliance obligations, and relevant legislation.
  • Lead the implementation of a robust data stewardship and quality program and the data lifecycle management practices.
  • Direct the ongoing refinement of the organisations data and AI framework, particularly in relation to technology advancements and ethical AI considerations.
  • Propose and establish data breach response procedures and establish regulatory and compliance reporting.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in similar data and / or AI governance role, managing initiatives in relation to data quality, AI ethics and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing data and AI governance frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Exception ability to communicate and influence to achieve the best practice outcomes in compliance around data and AI governance.
  • Good understanding around change management and affecting the desired positive change behaviours, practices and outcomes.
  • Excellent knowledge around obligations and compliance with State government acts and regulations (Privacy and Data Protection Act, Victorian Protective Data Security Standards, Notifiable Data Breach requirements)
