The opportunity
Due to a parental leave cover, we now have this role available until November 2026.
Join Greater Western Water as an Information Security Officer and play a key role in protecting the organisation’s information, technology, and digital systems. Working within the Enterprise Security Team, you will monitor and detect cyber threats, support the delivery of security awareness initiatives, deliver related training, and assist with implementing security controls to safeguard critical business systems and data. This is an exciting opportunity for a security-focused professional who is enthusiastic about cyber resilience, continuous improvement and helping ensure effective, efficient security measures are in place to keep our digital environment safe and secure.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, investigate and respond to cyber security threats and incidents across the organisation.
- Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of security technologies and controls.
- Deliver engaging cyber security awareness initiatives, including training, phishing simulations and user education programs.
- Analyse security alerts, identify emerging risks and contribute to threat intelligence activities.
- Research evolving cyber security trends and recommend improvements to strengthen organisational security and resilience.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with cyber security technologies, such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, email security and cloud security solutions.
- Knowledge of cyber security frameworks and best practices, including ISO 27001, NIST and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Proven experience of security operations and enterprise security controls within a complex technology environment.
- Ability to identify, analyse and respond to cyber security risks, threats and incidents.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, a proactive mindset and a passion for staying current with emerging cyber threats and technologies.
- Relevant Cyber Security qualification, with CISSP certification is highly regarded.
Note: This position requires participation in a 24/7 on-call roster, with a one-week-in-four rotation. Compensation is provided.
