The opportunity

This is a 9-month fixed-term role within the Financial Accounting team, created to resolve a backlog of reconciliation issues between our billing and collections system and the general ledger. You’ll untangle complex discrepancies, establish robust reconciliation procedures, and hand over clean, sustainable processes to the ongoing team. Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end reconciliation of debtor balances to the general ledger, including complex multi-way reconciliations across aged debtor reports, GL balances, and parks and drainage reporting.
  • Analyse debtor ageing and collections data to support cash flow forecasting.
  • Reconcile high-volume cash clearing accounts, supporting Treasury with cash positioning, borrowing requirements and stabilisation project work
  • Coordinate with the system integration team on change requests and enhancements for billing-to-GL interfaces.
  • Investigate and resolve daily payment exceptions raised by the Customer Assist team.
  • Support the Treasury Accountant with daily cash flow monitoring, borrowing limits.
  • Document and establish clear handover procedures for the Financial Accountant or Support Office Accountant.

 

 

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a financial accounting role, ideally involving high-volume transactional reconciliations.
  • CPA/CA qualification
  • Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards  
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines combined with a strong attention to detail
  • A critical, analytical mindset – you enjoy deconstructing problems and finding root causes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work to tight deadlines
