The opportunity 

Join our Southern Recycled Water Operations team delivering essential technical services to our customers! 
As an Operator (Treatment), you’ll help run and operate critical treatment assets that deliver safe, reliable and uninterrupted sewage treatment services. Working on site with a supportive team, you’ll play a vital role in protecting public health and the environment- where safety, teamwork, quality and sustainability come first.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor treatment plant assets and systems to ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Use SCADA, IoT, CCTV, and other digital tools to identify and respond to asset performance issues and operational trends. 
  • Support sampling, testing, and reporting programs to maintain water and wastewater quality. 
  • Issue and manage work orders, isolations, permits, and inductions for internal and external maintenance teams.
  • Participate in system changes, outages, and upgrades, ensuring safe and efficient coordination across teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and sharing insights from operational experience.
  • Be part of the after-hours roster, supporting emergency and contingency response plans.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment Operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in the operation of treatment plants and/or water or wastewater systems.
  • Digital literacy, including experience with SCADA systems, operational technology, and data logging tools. 
  • Understanding of safety in operations, dynamic risk awareness, and confined space requirements.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach to safety and problem-solving.
  • Current Driver’s Licence, with flexibility to travel and participate in rostered after-hours work.
