The opportunity

Join GWW as an IT Server and Cloud Platforms Team Leader!

 

Day to day you will oversee the operations, maintenance and ongoing uplifts, lead a talented team of IT professionals, you will ensure the stability, security and efficiency of our platforms.  You’ll collaborate across teams and support the business in their ongoing network needs, drive continuous improvements and, be the conduit within technology project teams - guiding uplifts to address operational technology risks and enhance the IT and digital services that support hundreds of GWW sites.

 

This critical role underpins GWW’s core technology services, ensuring effective governance across our platforms and all interconnected environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the IT Server and Cloud Platforms team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of resilient server and cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for server and cloud infrastructure improvement.
  • Collaborate with other teams to understand their requirements and provide effective solutions and align IT initiatives with business goals.
  • Ensure lifecycle availability, stability, security, and performance of all server and cloud platforms.
  • Ensure the monitoring of server and cloud performance and availability with proactive response and remediation of issues as they arise.
  • Ensure governance, policies, procedures and best practices for production, non-prod and disaster recovery are adhered to.
  • Manage budgets, resources, vendor relationships and contracts for related services, licensing, SaaS and equipment.
  • Participate in a 24/7 after-hours roster, 1 week in every 6-7 weeks.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Successful leadership, mentoring and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Proven experience in server and cloud platform management and service uplifts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Digital, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Essential qualification in Azure
  • Knowledge of security best practices, compliance standards, protocols and practices, including firewalls, encryption, access controls, networking concepts and technologies.
  • Proficiency and experience in server operating systems, cloud platforms, virtualization technologies, containerization tools.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools with knowledge of database management systems.
