The opportunity

We’re seeking a commercially astute Senior Finance Business Partner (FBP) to provide strategic financial leadership to our Information Technology Division. This role is pivotal in supporting IT leaders to make informed investment decisions across infrastructure, applications, services, and cloud initiatives. As a trusted advisor, you will shape financial outcomes by delivering deep analysis, robust business cases, and actionable insights that enable smarter technology investments, improved vendor management, and greater value from the IT portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior IT leaders across key categories — hardware, software/applications, services, and cloud — providing financial insight and commercial advice.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for IT operations (“Run”) and transformation programs (“Change/Transform”).
  • Support development and review of business cases for major information technology investments, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and financial governance.
  • Advise on capitalisation treatment for technology spend, including SaaS and cloud-based assets, ensuring compliance with AASB and internal policy.
  • Analyse IT cost drivers, service catalogues, and project performance to identify efficiency and optimisation opportunities.
  • Partner with procurement and IT to drive vendor rationalisation, pricing analysis, and supplier performance management.
  • Provide financial insights to support decisions on sourcing, renewals, and supplier ecosystem optimisation.
  • Deliver accurate and insightful reporting, highlighting run-rate trends, project spend, and return on investment.
  • Support forecasts and monthly performance reviews, ensuring transparency and accountability in IT financials.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification and CPA/CA essential.
  • Strong financial partnering experience with Information Technology teams.
  • Deep understanding of IT financial categories — hardware, software/applications, services, cloud.
  • Sound knowledge of capitalisation principles for technology projects, including SaaS and cloud treatment.
  • Proven experience supporting business case development, benefits realisation, and project accounting.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex IT and financial information into actionable insights.
  • Experience in supplier or vendor analysis, including pricing and contract performance review.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills — able to influence senior technology and finance leaders.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and ERP/reporting systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, TM1, Power BI).
